While we like going fast on tarmac as much as the next person, somehow we always seem to end up on some pretty dubious road surfaces. Which is why we like Ramparts. They're more robust than your typical road tyre, sidewalls and tread are thicker than usual (even in the light and supple version) so they're less puncture prone and more durable. Weight is still pretty good - less than 350g for the 28mm ones. Quick too, a slick central strip means they roll just a well as racier tyres, and the 3-2-1 siping makes for surefooted cornering in wet or loose conditions. They're available from 28mm to 38mm, for the kind of riding we'll take the comfort and control of a bigger air pocket over the supposed benefit of super-skinny tyres any day. Teravail says..... These tires were designed and inspired by our experiences riding and racing courses of varied terrain, and the uncharted routes that connect them. 60 tpi Tubeless ready Light & Supple Casing: When extra puncture protection isn’t necessary, our light and supple casing offers decreased weight and a comfortable, ultra-supple ride quality at lower pressures when set up tubeless. Durable Casing: Our durable casing features a layer of woven aramid fiber reinforcement between the outer rubber and the inner casing under the tread. This material is twice as strong than Kevlar and lighter in weight than any competitive product. It provides moderate protection against abrasion and sharp road debris that may result in a flat tire.
