Surly says.... We made these handy plates for use with either the Surly Long Haul or Disc Trucker frames.

They are to be used with a bicycle kickstand to keep your bicycle upright while not moving as if by magic.

Bikemonger says.... We like kickstands as much as the next person riding a heavy or heavily loaded bike. BUT you can crush the chainstays of your frame if you tighten the kickstand’s clamp bolt too much, or, if you leave it too loose. This is because chainstay tube walls are usually not super thick.

These plates minimise the risk especially for LHTs and Disc Truckers, BUT always use caution when installing a kickstand on any bike. Use the least amount of force necessary to keep it from moving around or coming loose. Watch what you're doing while you're tightening the bolt. And most important of all: check your equipment.
